This spring a group of students and teachers from Highland Park Elementary School, Lamar Middle School, and McCallum High School spent the day at Shoal Creek. The group went to three locations along the creek to collect animal, plant and water samples. The samples were brought back to classroom to share with other students and for further study.

Ms. Graham, McCallum Science Teacher, shows the students how to use the Global Position System to retrieve the longitude and latitude of a location.	Mr. Etie and Kristin, both of Highland Park, find the pH level and temperature of their water sample.
The students collected samples of plant and animal life at each of the stops along the creek. Here Laura, Highland Park, shows the clam she found.	Students were disappointed to find a lot of trash along the creek.
