On December 11th, as part of their unit on Medieval Studies, 3rd grade had the opportunity to have The Knights of the Guild come to our school to learn more about the character of the knights and the code of chivalry they followed. Highland Park was one of the first schools in the area to develop a Character Education Program, and this presentation was a great way to reinforce what we teach at school. The knights were of great interest to our students, and the presentation put what the knights stood for in a more modern context for them.
Also on hand were other presentations by The Society for Creative Anachronism for students to learn about medieval children, clothing, fuedalism, heraldry, armor & weapons, geneology, and music. Enjoy some of the scenes from our medieval day!
