Castles of Somerset
Dunster Caslte
Situated on a natural
defensive position between Exmoor and the Bristol
Channel, Dunster Castle was fought over during the Wars
of the Roses. During the Civil War it surrendered to
Parliament only after a bitter siege which lasted 166
days. Dunster still has the appearance of a medieval
castle , although there is no trace of the original
defenses.
