Our Texas Fact Collection

Texas children have many opportunities to learn about the rich heritage of our state. My class spent time studying about our home and wanted to share a bit with our web friends.

Alex

Stephen F. Austin is the Father of Texas. He brought 300 settlers to live in Texas. The state flag is red, white, and blue. The flag has one lone star and that is why we are called the Lone Star State. The bluebonnets along our highways are pretty.

Texas' nickname is the "Lone Star State"! We fought for our independence from Mexico. The general of Mexico was Santa Anna. The Texas flag only has one star. Our state bird is the mocking bird. Our state tree is the pecan tree. Six flags have flown over Texas.

Texas' flag has red, white, and blue. There is only one star on the Texas flag. Texas is nicknamed the "Lone Star State" Six flags have flown over Texas. We fought a war against Mexico and a general named Santa Anna. Our governor is George W. Bush.

Texas is called the Lone Star State. I like living in Austin, Texas. It is fun living there. The state bird is the mockingbird. It is real pretty. There is a state flower, too. It is the bluebonnet . It is really pretty, too.

Texas' state tree is the pecan tree. The state flower are the bluebonnet. They grow in the springtime. You can find them in fields and on the side of the road. The state bird is the mocking bird. It is called a mocking bird because it mocks the sounds of the other birds.

I live in Texas. The mockingbird is the state bird. Bluebonnets are the state flower. They bloom along our highways in the Spring. I like the colors of our flag. The colors are red, white, and blue. The state tree is the pecan tree.

I live in Austin, Texas. That is where the state capitol is located. I learned that the nickname is the Lone Star State. I like the shape of Texas. The mockingbird is the state bird. It's named the mockingbird because it mocks the sounds of other birds. The bluebonnet is our state's flower. I like to run through the fields of bluebonnets in our pastures. The pecan tree is the state tree. I like to eat my mom's pecan pies. Stephen F. Austin is the Father of Texas. He brought 300 settlers to Texas. I visited our state capitol this year. The capitol was pretty.

Texas is the "Lone Star State". Stephen F.Austin was the father of Texas. He brought the first 300 people to Texas. It took three battles to win our independence: the Alamo, Goliad, and San Jacinto. Santa Anna was the Mexican general defeated at the Battle of San Jacinto. The Texans attacked Santa Anna while he was taking a nap.

This is a picture of a park in Texas. There is a pecan tree on my picture. It has pecans on it which you can put in a pie and eat it. I've never tried a pecan pie before. But I am missing a tooth and I can't eat nuts for at least one week.

The flag is the Texas flag. It has one star on it. It has only one star because it used to be its own country.

Texas is the state I live in. There were a lot of people who risk their lives at the Alamo for our country. Stephen F. Austin brought the first 300 settlers to our state. San Jacinto Day was the day that our country got its Independence.
