Yesterday, King Agememnon was allegedly murdered by his wife, Queen
Cleomnestra. After the king's return from the war, Cleomnestra met
him with a smile. "You are our safety. Your sight is dear to our
hearts." But, as rumors have said, the queen's secret lover, Aegisthus,
was still in the palace. Only minutes after the royal couple went
inside, a cry of terror rang out. "God, I am struck! My death blow-"
As the silence settled, over hearers realized those were their king's
final words. Then the palace doors opened, and there smiling, stood the
murderous Cleomnestra, her own husband's blood splashed all over her.
The queen believes that this has righted the sacrifice of her daughter,
who was given to the gods by her desperate father. As some say though,
two wrongs don't make a right. Has justice been served? It is the
question this death has brought. (Local police are working on details
of the murder. Read THE SPARTAN TIMES for more information.).
