Great Horned Owl

Physical Characteristics:

Some are mostly brown and some have brown eyes and yellow eyes. In North America the Great Horned Owl is the one that makes a hoo-hoo-hoo sound. Most all of them are very large. They are about 22 inches in length (with females being larger than males).

Habitat Description:
The owls habitats are varied ranging from forest to cities to open desert provided there are shelters such as woods or cliffs nearby, and mostly in plains to city parks and deserts.

Diet:
They eat cats and other small animals , like skunks and birds but the large yellow -eyed owl relies primarily on his keen eyesight to locate his prey which consists of a wide variety of small birds and mammals.
