The Barred Owl is a medium-sized grey-brown
owl,streaked with white horizontal and vertical lines. He has a
rounded head and brown eyes,and a whitish/brown facial disk with dark
brown trim. A Barred Owl weighs up to two pounds,with a 44-inch wing
span and body length up to 20-inches.
Habitat Description
Barred Owls almost always nest in hollow
trees, laying up to 2-4 eggs that hatch in 28-33 days. Pairs may show
strong attachment to same nest area, returning year after year.
Diet
The Barred Owl eats deer, mice, fish, turtles, frogs, snakes,
crayfish, scorpions, beetles, crickets, and
grasshoppers.
