Characteristics:
The upper part of the Kites body
are grey, with black shoulders and primaries; under parts and its
short square tail are mainly white. The legs are yellow,and the beak
is black and its eyes are crimson (red).
Habitat
Description:
A small Kite (30-35cm) that lives in open
country of California, Central and South America, the White-Tailed
Kite lives in dry grass, savannas meadows and cultivated land with
trees, up to 9,000 feet above sea level.
Diet:
The Kite hunts live prey, like small rodents,
reptiles and large insects. It flies slowly and hovers gracefully
like a Kestrel, hence the name kite.
