5th Graders at Highland Park Elementary have, for the past three years, had the opportunity to participate in the Leadership Austin Kids program, through a selection process of teacher, self, peer, & parent nominations. The program is sponsored by the AISD Office of Advanced Academic Services, the Girl Scouts, & Leadership Austin.
Students must demonstrate & convey leadership abilities, & then participate, as part of a group, in a self-selected community service project; this year they chose two group service projects.
