Paul Cezanne's Brief Biography
In our art class we are making Still-lifes. We are also studying about
Paul Cezanne. Paul Cezanne's father was a weathly banker. Paul's
father wanted him to be a banker but Paul wanted to be an artist.
Paul Cezanne didn't get along very well with other people. He learned
to paint in Paris. His father did not give him very much money to live
on because his father wanted him to come home. At first people did
not like his art work because they did not understand it. When he was
old, his art work became famous. Paul Cezanne painted alot of
still-lifes and landscapes.
To make your own still-life:
1. We cut out fruit for our still-lifes
out of scraps of colored paper. We had to make 2 big fruits, 4 medium
fruits, and 6 little fruits.
2. We shaded our fruits with pastels. Rub a warm color on one side of
the fruit and a cool, dark color on the other side of the fruit to make
it look more 3-D. That's what Paul Cezanne did. Draw textures on your
fruit too like for a pineapple or a banana.
3. We arranged them and glued the fruit down. Glue down the big ones
first and then the littler ones. Overlap some so they look like some
are behind and some are in front.
4. Pick 3 colors of pastel or crayon and very lightly shade in the
background so it's not just blank paper.
