State Population Information

Population: 8oo,493, forty-third states among the states (1980 census)

Population Density: 7 people per sq. mi. (3 people per km)

Population Distribution: 81 percent of the people in cities or towns. This figure does not mean,however,that Nevada has manybig cities,because only Las Vagas and Reno have more than 100,000 people.The main reason the state is so sparsely populated is that more than 85 percent of Nevada's land is owned by the federalgovernment,and is unbavailable for development.
