Origin of Name: Named for the Ute Indians who lived in Utah prior to the arrival of white settlers; Eutaw means "dwellers in the tops of the mountains"

State Capital: Salt Lake City

State Nickname: "Beehive State"

State Motto: "Industry"

State Flag: Utah's official state flag. Adopted in 1915, the flag shows a replica of the state seal. An eagle holding a red banner in its beak is pictured against a white background. The state motto is written on the banner. The eagle also holds a shield with thirteen stars and stripes symbolizing the original thirteen states.
